I know my posting has been lacking here lately, but I know many of you are itching to see images from the Okinawa trip, cross country drive, and new house! I think that tonight was the first time that I opened my Lightroom catalog since my last post a week ago… I started work at my new job last week and also received my household goods shipment. I managed to paint half the house (2 coats) before the movers came and now comes the daunting task of unloading box after box (after box, after box… well, you get the picture).
While traveling to Pensacola, I spent a weekend in Phoenix with Mike Olbinski. I was showing him some of my shots from the Okinawa trip and he went nuts over the whale sharks at the Churaumi Aquarium. Now, when you get to Okinawa everyone talks about the how awesome the aquarium is – but I though it’s just a small island, so how good could it really be? I mean, come on… I’m from Chicago… I have Shedd right there… Well you go up there and look at all the exhibits, then start to work you way down to the main tank. Then you see a 12ft manta swim by, then whale shark, then you turn the corner and bam! You see this HUGE tank with TWO whale sharks in it! Just amazing. The glass is some Japanese ninja glass measuring 27 x 74 tall and wide with a thickness of 24 inches. The tank holds almost 2 million gallons of water which is constantly being pumped in and out of the East China Sea. To date, this is the BEST aquarium I have ever visited!
